The prefect Board of Ananda Central College was established in par with the starting of the school and it actively contributes for the proper functioning of the school. The well qualified and talented Prefect Board is steered by the assistant principal of the school Mrs. KHG Rasadari along with Major(NCC) Sanjaya Gonsal Korala, BA ,Miss, Hashila Erandi Dias, Mrs. TJL Ponnamperuma, Mis Malsha Madhushani Ranathunga and Mr. Shashika Ariyawansa. The present Head prefects are Anujitha Nwansara and Kithmini Nawanjana and the prefect board is also comprised of a Top Board.

Only 150 students get the opportunity to enter the cluster of prefects of the school. The prefect board is selected according to the guidance given by the Ministry of Education. Applications are called and they have to undergo many phases of interviews along with a practical interview to evaluate their practical leadership skills, attitudes and the cooperativeness. The selected are appointed as probationary prefects who perform the duty under the probationary category for a period of three months. After that the selected prefects undergo a leadership training either outside the school or inside the school under the guidance of well-trained leadership trainers. Finally, the investiture ceremony is held at the school.

The prefect board comes forward to organize and operate almost all the common and specific activities of the school by rendering maximum to keep the school flag high always.

The prefect board has been organising a donation programme in view of the Vesak festival for the maternity ward of the Base Hospital, Elpitiya.  Almsgiving to “Abesekara Elderly Home” has also been done since 50 years with the patronage of the prefect board for 50 years consecutively.

Ananda Central College runs under the “Green” concept which does not allow polythene and plastics to be disposed in the school premises. The cleanliness of the school is a responsibility of the prefects and they contribute to make the school premises free of polythene and plastics. Further, the prefects work hard to maintain the discipline of the school and mark their contribution in proper functioning of the school and the school administration. Furthermore, the prefect board organises events like Teachers Day, Commemoration ceremonies etc.

The prefect board of the Ananda Central College is one of the major sections of the school which delivers an immense service.
